Master’s work. One-of-a-kind piece
Each knife is handcrafted by a Yakut master and is truly unique. Minor variations in appearance are a natural hallmark of genuine handwork
Bird’s Eye is a compact handmade Yakut knife designed for precision work and everyday carry. Its 90 mm blade is forged from Kh12MF tool steel — a high-chromium, high-carbon alloy with exceptional edge retention and wear resistance, favored by bladesmiths for knives that must perform day after day. The shorter blade excels at intricate tasks: skinning small game, whittling, food preparation, and detailed carving where a full-sized blade would be unwieldy.
The handle is turned from birch burl, a naturally occurring growth on birch trees that produces a dense, richly figured wood with the distinctive “bird’s eye” patterning that gives this Yakut knife its name. A mountain ram horn bolster provides a secure grip transition and protects the handle from moisture. Compact enough for a belt sheath or pack pocket, yet fully capable in the field — Bird’s Eye is a master’s interpretation of the Yakut knife in its most refined, portable form.
