What is a Yakut Knife?

A Yakut knife is a traditional fixed-blade craft knife from the Sakha Republic in northeast Siberia, forged by hand for over a thousand years. Its defining feature is the asymmetric grind — a deep fuller on one side, a convex bevel on the other — a shape refined over centuries for work in extreme sub-zero conditions.

MUUS partners with 70+ master blacksmiths across Yakutia to produce authentic Yakut knives in four classic forms: the Yakut Knife (all-purpose utility), Hunting Knife (drop-point for game), Batas (large bushcraft blade, ~25cm), and Batyya (spear-type collector piece). Every blade is forged, ground, and finished by hand using 9KhS or Kh12MF Russian tool steel. No CNC, no mass stamping — each knife carries small variations that make it unique.
