Master’s work. One-of-a-kind piece
Each knife is handcrafted by a Yakut master and is truly unique. Minor variations in appearance are a natural hallmark of genuine handwork
Balyksyt — meaning “fisher” in the Sakha language — is a handmade Yakut knife purpose-built for working with fish. Its compact 110 mm blade is shorter than the standard Yakut knife, giving the user precise control when filleting, scaling, and cleaning catches along the riverbank or at the camp table. The 40Kh13 stainless steel resists corrosion from fish oils, saltwater, and repeated washing, making it an ideal companion for both freshwater and coastal fishing.
The Karelian birch handle fits comfortably in a wet hand, offering a secure, non-slip grip even when covered in fish slime — a practical advantage over polished or synthetic handles. A moose antler bolster adds a distinctive Siberian accent and provides a natural finger guard. This compact Yakut knife is equally useful for camp cooking and light bushcraft tasks. Delivered in a leather sheath with a wooden insert, the Fisher is ready to join you on every outing.
