Master’s work. One-of-a-kind piece
Each knife is handcrafted by a Yakut master and is truly unique. Minor variations in appearance are a natural hallmark of genuine handwork
The Hunter — Bulchut (meaning “hunter” in Sakha) — is a handmade Yakut knife crafted with a 65G carbon steel blade, a deliberate choice by the master for those who prize raw cutting performance over low maintenance. 65G is a manganese spring steel: softer than tool steels, it takes a razor edge in seconds on any abrasive surface — even an unglazed ceramic plate in a pinch. The trade-off is that carbon steel requires care: wipe the blade dry after use, apply a thin coat of oil for storage, and the steel develops a beautiful dark patina over time that actually enhances its corrosion resistance.
The 3.5 mm spine is thicker than standard, lending extra backbone for heavier cutting tasks and confident batoning. Paired with a Karelian birch handle and mountain ram horn bolster, this Yakut knife is built for the serious hunter or outdoorsman who understands and respects traditional carbon steel. The Hunter is the quintessential field knife: sharp, responsive, and deeply connected to the Yakut tradition of living with the land.
