1. About this policy
This policy explains what personal information MUUS collects when you visit or buy from muusknife.com (the “Site”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. MUUS sells handmade Yakutian knives made by master craftsmen in the Sakha Republic, Russia, and our operations are based there.
By using the Site or placing an order you agree to this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Shipping address (country, city, street, postal code)
- Order details (items, amount, status)
- The content of messages you send us by email or through WhatsApp, Telegram or MAX
Information collected automatically when you browse:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Browser and device type, screen size, referring page
- Pages viewed and actions taken on the Site
- Cookies and similar identifiers (see section 7)
We never receive or store your full card number. Card details are entered on the payment provider’s own secure page, and we only learn whether the payment succeeded.
3. How we use your information
- To take, process, pack and ship your order
- To contact you about your order — confirmation, payment, dispatch, tracking
- To process payments and issue refunds
- To answer your questions and provide customer support
- To send you news and offers, but only if you have asked us to (see section 9)
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations
4. Legal bases for processing
Where data-protection law such as the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on these grounds:
- Performance of a contract — everything needed to sell, ship and support your order
- Consent — marketing emails and non-essential cookies; you may withdraw it at any time
- Legitimate interests — keeping the Site secure, preventing fraud, and understanding aggregate usage
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting and customs record-keeping
5. Payment
Payments on this Site are handled by Robokassa. You are taken to their secure, PCI-DSS compliant page to enter your card details, and the connection is encrypted with TLS. MUUS does not see, receive or store your card number, expiry date or security code. Robokassa processes your payment data under its own privacy policy.
6. Shipping and customs
Orders ship internationally from Russia. To deliver your parcel we pass your name, phone number and shipping address to the carrier and, where required, to customs authorities in the country of dispatch and the country of destination. Any import duties or taxes charged on delivery are set by your country and are the recipient’s responsibility.
7. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies in two ways:
- Essential — keeping your shopping cart, your session and your language preference. The Site cannot work without these.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4 measures which pages are visited and which steps of checkout are completed, so we can see where the Site is confusing. Reports we see are aggregated.
When you type a shipping address, the Site uses the Google Places API to suggest matching addresses. What you type in that field is sent to Google to produce the suggestions. You can ignore the suggestions and enter the address manually.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, checkout will not work correctly.
8. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the shop, and only as much as each one needs:
- Robokassa — payment processing
- Postal and courier services — delivering your parcel
- Google (Analytics, Places API) — site analytics and address suggestions
- Email and messaging platforms — sending order emails and handling your support conversations
- Our order-management system — picking, packing and dispatching what you bought
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
9. Marketing emails
We send news and offers only to people who have subscribed. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by writing to info@muusknife.com. Unsubscribing does not stop emails about an order you have placed — confirmation, payment and shipping notices are part of fulfilling your purchase.
10. Where your information is processed
MUUS operates from the Russian Federation, and the servers holding order and customer data are located there. Some of our service providers process data in other countries. This means your personal information may be transferred outside your own country, including outside the European Economic Area and the United States, where data-protection law may differ from your own. By placing an order you acknowledge this transfer, which is necessary to perform the contract between us.
11. How long we keep it
- Order records — for at least five years, as tax and accounting rules require
- Support conversations — while they are useful for serving you, and then deleted
- Marketing consent and subscriber records — until you withdraw consent
- Analytics data — for the retention period set in Google Analytics
When we no longer need personal information we delete it or make it anonymous.
12. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop using your information for marketing, or withdraw a consent you gave
- Object to, or ask us to limit, a particular use of your information
- Receive your information in a portable, machine-readable form
Write to info@muusknife.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you may also complain to your national data-protection authority. If you are a California resident, we confirm that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right above.
13. Children
The Site sells age-restricted goods and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to info@muusknife.com and we will delete it.
14. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, and we apply organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously and keep our systems patched.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date below. If a change is significant we will say so on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
