1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of muusknife.com (the “Site”) and every order you place on it. MUUS makes handmade Yakutian knives with master craftsmen in the Sakha Republic, Russia, and ships them worldwide from there. By placing an order you accept these terms, so please read them before you buy.
Nothing in these terms takes away the consumer rights the law of your own country gives you.
2. Who may order
You must be at least 18 years old to order from us. Knives are age-restricted goods in most countries, and we do not sell to minors. You are responsible for the accuracy of the name, phone number and delivery address you give us — a parcel sent to a wrong address you supplied cannot be recovered.
3. Our knives
Every MUUS knife is forged and finished by hand. Grain of the handle, pattern of the steel and small differences in dimensions vary from piece to piece, and photographs on the Site show representative examples rather than the exact item you will receive. This variation is what handmade means; it is not a defect and is not grounds for a warranty claim.
MUUS knives are fixed-blade utility and craft knives. They are not designed, made or marketed as weapons.
4. Prices and currency
All prices are shown and charged in US dollars (USD). We may change prices at any time, but the price that applies to your order is the one displayed at the moment you place it. If you pay from outside the United States your bank may add its own currency conversion fee — that fee is set by your bank, not by us.
If a price or product detail is shown incorrectly because of an obvious error, we will contact you before processing the order and you may confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
5. Placing an order
Your order is an offer to buy. The contract between us is formed when we confirm your order by email after payment succeeds. We may decline an order — for example if the item is no longer available, if we cannot ship to your destination, or if we cannot verify the payment — and in that case we refund you in full.
If you need to change or cancel an order, email info@muusknife.com as soon as you can. We can normally help while the order has not yet been dispatched; we dispatch within 1–3 business days of payment.
6. Payment
Payments are handled by Robokassa. Card details are entered on their secure, PCI-DSS compliant page — MUUS never sees or stores your card number. Your bank may ask for 3D Secure confirmation. Your card is charged when the order is placed; once payment is confirmed the order goes into processing and you receive an email confirmation.
7. Shipping and delivery
- We dispatch within 1–3 business days of payment confirmation. Each knife is inspected by the craftsman before it ships.
- Shipping is a flat $45 USD per order, worldwide, paid by you and shown at checkout before payment — free on orders of 3 or more knives.
- Every order ships with tracking, and we email the tracking number once it is on its way.
- Delivery estimates are estimates. They can move during peak periods (November–January) and customs backlogs, and delays caused by carriers or customs are outside our control.
8. Customs, duties and taxes
We ship from Russia and you are the importer of record in your country. Any import duties, VAT or other charges are your responsibility and are collected by the carrier or customs on delivery, not by us. Details for the main destinations are on our Shipping page.
We declare goods at full value on customs forms. We do not mark shipments as “gift” and we do not undervalue them, whatever the reason for the request.
9. Import legality is yours to check
Fixed-blade utility and craft knives are legal to import in the countries we ship to, but rules on blade length, carry and possession vary widely by country, state and city. Checking the law where you live, and where you intend to carry the knife, is your responsibility. If a parcel is seized by customs because of a local restriction we cannot refund the item or the shipping.
10. Returns and refunds
You may return a knife within 14 days of confirmed delivery if it is unused and in original condition — blade not sharpened, handle not modified, sheath intact. Used, sharpened or modified knives, and custom or personalised pieces, cannot be returned.
- Start a return by emailing info@muusknife.com with your order number. We reply within one business day and send the return address and packing instructions.
- Ship the knife back with tracking and send us the tracking number.
- For a change-of-mind return you pay return shipping. If the knife arrived damaged or defective, we pay — send us the quote and we reimburse it with the refund.
- Refunds go to the original payment method within 5 business days of us receiving and inspecting the knife, plus your bank’s settlement time.
The full procedure is on our Returns page.
11. Warranty
We cover manufacturing defects — blade integrity and handle attachment — for 6 months from delivery. The warranty does not cover normal wear, corrosion from improper storage, damage from misuse or prying, re-profiling by a third party, or the natural variation described in section 3. Care instructions are in our Care Guide.
12. Lost or damaged parcels
If tracking shows the parcel delivered but you did not receive it, contact us within 7 days — we will file a carrier claim and either reship or refund. If a knife arrives visibly damaged, photograph the packaging before opening it and email us immediately; photographs taken after unpacking make a carrier claim much harder to win.
13. Content on this Site
The photographs, video, text and design on this Site belong to MUUS or to the craftsmen we work with. You may share and link to them; you may not republish them as your own, or use them to sell knives that are not ours.
14. Liability
A knife is a sharp tool. You are responsible for using, storing and carrying it safely and lawfully, and for keeping it away from children. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order, and we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your mandatory consumer rights.
15. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with the date below. The terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it.
17. Disputes
If something goes wrong, email info@muusknife.com first — nearly everything is settled that way, and quickly. MUUS operates from the Russian Federation. If we cannot resolve a matter between us, you keep every right to complain and to seek a remedy that the law of your country of residence gives you.
