About the product

Bull’s Tail

The Bull’s Tail takes its name from its most unusual feature: a sheath made from authentic bull-tail leather — a rugged, living material whose texture is different on every knife. It is the piece that gives this blade its character: strong, natural, and unmistakably of the North.

The blade is forged from 40Kh13 stainless steel, an easy-care choice that resists corrosion in wet, humid conditions — ideal for fishing, kitchen work and everyday carry where a knife meets water often and oil seldom. It takes the traditional Yakut single-bevel grind, flat on one face and convex on the other, so it parts material cleanly and comes back to a keen edge with a few passes on a stone.

The handle is Karelian birch, its golden burl warm and secure in the hand through long work. Together the stainless blade, the birch handle and the bull-tail sheath make a knife as practical as it is distinctive.

Hand-forged by a master smith of the Sakha Republic, each Bull’s Tail is one of a kind — small variations in the blade’s finish and the sheath’s grain are the mark of genuine handwork. Ice-born, fire-forged.
