About the product

Black Fang — Khara

Khara means “black” in the Sakha language — a colour that stands for resilience, composure and hidden strength. The Black Fang lives up to it: a dark, restrained knife built not to draw attention but to work.

Its blade is forged from Kh12MF, a high-carbon tool steel prized for edge retention and toughness under load. Ground for real field work — dressing game, camp tasks, everyday cutting — it holds a working edge under load and comes back keen with a few passes on a stone. Like every Yakut blade it carries the asymmetric single-bevel grind, flat on one side and convex on the other, so it drives through hide and muscle without binding and sharpens back quickly on a stone.

The handle is Karelian birch set against a black-hornbeam bolster — a dark, dense pairing that matches the knife’s temperament and sits solid in the hand through hard use. It rides in a fitted leather sheath.

Forged by hand by a master smith of the Sakha Republic, each Black Fang is a one-of-a-kind piece; the living texture of the blade and the grain of the wood are the signature of genuine handwork. Ice-born, fire-forged — made for work, not for show.
